A dedicated group of hospitalists are advancing diagnostic excellence under the leadership of Radha Devi, MD, and Timothy Evans, MD, through our Division’s Center for Diagnostic Excellence (DexEx). 

The Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC) TL1 trainees recently attended the Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS) 2025 conference in Washington, DC. Held from April 14 to April 17, this four-day conference offered our trainees the opportunity to represent not only our program, but also the broader mission of WashU Medicine.

Janice Hanson, PhD, EdS, MH, Professor of Medicine & Director of Education Scholarship Development in the Division of General Medicine & Geriatrics, was awarded the COMSEP Achievement Award and honored as the 2025 CGEA Laureate.

On October 4, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine published an article titled “How weight loss medications are changing the sleep field,” featuring an interview with  Raymond E. Bourey, MD, FAASM. Dr. Bourey has board certification, 25 years in sleep medicine, and is an Associate Professor of Medicine with WashU Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research.

Chronic kidney disease affects an estimated 37 million people in the U.S., and for many, there is no cure. But a new research project at Washington University in St. Louis seeks to change that by uncovering the mechanical basis of kidney cell injury.

Associate Professor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division Dr. Joel Schilling along with his band South of Sanity played a show at a recent St. Louis Blues hockey game pep rally at the Enterprise Center. Joining the band on drums was heart transplant recipient Rodney Cochran.

Research developed through the collaborative efforts of WashU Medicine, the University of Abuja, Northwestern University, and The George Institute for Global Health have supported the launch of Nigeria’s Sodium Reduction Guidelines. William Bowen Endowed Professor of Medicine and Global Health Center Co-Director Mark Huffman, MD, MPH headed the WashU team for this NIH-funded project.
