Dr. Samuel Urrutia joins the Department of Medicine joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Oncology as an Assistant Professor as of September 2024.
Dr. Urrutia is an assistant professor and clinical investigator in the Division of Oncology at Washington University. He completed his training at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where he also received a Master’s degree in biomedical informatics. Dr. Urrutia’s goals are to improve the lives of patients suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia through the development of genomically-informed clinical trials.
He is also interested in the global genomic characterization of hematologic malignancies and expanding access to genomic diagnostics across the world. He has also developed several informatic tools to rapidly analyze large clinical datasets to accelerate the pace of research.
