Dr. Giulia Petrone joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Oncology as an Assistant Professor as of July 2025.
Dr. Petrone’s clinical interest is on acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance (CCUS), and stem cell transplant. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that drive progression from CCUS to overt myeloid neoplasms and on developing strategies to reduce this risk through early intervention in high-risk patients. She is committed to improving outcomes for individuals with CCUS and hematologic malignancies by leading clinical trials that explore novel therapies.
Since CCUS is a rare disease, Dr. Petrone is particularly interested in designing innovative, decentralized clinical trials to expand access and participation for patients nationwide. Her goal is to bring cutting-edge treatments into practice and advance the care of patients with blood cancers.
