Alex Schearer

January 2023 Inpatient Co-Resident of the Month
Alex Schearer

“He is one of the most phenomenal physicians I have ever worked with: an excellent team leader and one of the most detail-oriented individuals I have ever met. Whether it was setting up dialysis, doing extensive chart review, to always knowing what medications each patient needed, or reaching out to outpatient specialists to provide updates regarding his patients in the hospital, he went above and beyond for every individual he took care of. He is more than ready to practice on his own and I can honestly say he would be able to provide care as good or better than myself as a seasoned attending. His patients value everything he says (fantastic bedside manner) and his medical knowledge is superb. He has so many wonderful leadership qualities for being so early in his career and his team adored working with him. I give him the highest kudos I can humbly offer and would be delighted to work with him again.”

“…great senior on Firm. Always on top of tasks and attuned to when his interns were getting overwhelmed. He is the kind of guy to pick up little tasks during the day to help the team…kept the mood in the workroom light, and I feel like we spent most of the rotation laughing. He’s truly a pleasure to work with, and he’s going to make a fantastic gastroenterologist.”

Austin Niu

January 2023 Inpatient Co-Resident of the Month
Austin Niu

“Great job on night-float helping out everyone.  Specifically, did the overnight wound care on a patient with a large EC fistula that the nursing staff felt was too complex.  This included going to the ED to get proper supplies and doing the dressing change himself.  He never complained and just worked hard to take care of the patient.”

“Routinely helps his colleagues on days and nights; takes additional time to help improve the system. In addition to his selfless comradery, he can calmly handle multiple, complex patients at once without letting the heavy workload compromise his clinical decision-making.”

Sarah Coats

January 2023 Inpatient Intern of the Month
Sarah Coats

“She has the clinical intuition, medical knowledge, and emotional awareness to fully care for patients. She consistently managed very complicated, sick patients on medicine Firm in a way that treated their medical condition(s) in the context of their social situation. She was able to anticipate treatment/discharge barriers and effectively subvert them. Because of the care and time she took to get things done (even those things tasked to other support staff), she was able to most efficiently care for patients and get them home!”

“The little things often go unnoticed but also require the most time. Sarah’s extra work was noticed and appreciated by staff and patients alike.”

James McFarlin

January 2023 Outpatient Resident of the Month
James McFarlin

“He performed at a very high level throughout a busy AMBJAR month. He had a thorough knowledge of his patients’ background, even in fast-paced, focused visits. He developed plans independently and took initiative in reaching out to multiple subspecialists to expedite care and co-manage complex, chronic conditions. He managed multiple, acutely ill patients calmly and professionally while at the same time handling a high patient volume in the AMBJAR hall. Nice work!”

”James literally crushed AMBJAR. Great plans, notes, incorporated feedback. He’s a star!”

Elisa De Togni

Elisa De Togni
Cool under pressure. Walked into day 1 of BMT and immediately asked to see a hypotensive patient. She calmy assessed the situation and quickly treated the patient. Excellent clinical acumen.

Chloe Ferris

Chloe Ferris
Chloe was on general cardiology consults during a busy post holiday week and managed a large chunk of the consults. She went above and beyond to ensure patients and their families were informed about what was going on and was a pleasure to work with :). Looking forward to working with her as a future cardiologist!

Adam Angel

Adam Angel
He is very thorough and dedicated and managed the medicine team efficiently. He took time to teach the interns.  He spent time talking to patients and reassuring them.  A pleasure to work with.

Beth Bryant

Beth Bryant
I took some time off during a busy month of firm to attend a family event for which I needed coverage. I messaged Beth, and without hesitation, she agreed and told me it was important for me to spend time with my family. Not only did she WILLINGLY pick up holiday coverage, but she also picked up a holiday call day! She’s a rockstar co-intern, and she’s honestly just such a positive personality to be around. She’s going to be great in any field she chooses!

Kylie Cleavenger

Kylie Cleavenger
Kylie is an all around amazing intern and sets standards for patient care that I think we should all strive to reach, inpatient and outpatient. From watching her in action, it is abundantly clear how much she cares about her patients and being thorough for their medical care. She sees her patients multiple times a day, going back to see how they are doing and making adjustments to their care if necessary. She also spends time truly getting to know her patients and it is evident that this is something they truly appreciate. From patients with alzheimer’s to those with complicated psychiatric issues, she handles every patient situation with patience and grace. When I see how much time and effort she puts into her patient care, it inspires me to elevate my own level of patient care. I think anyone that can do that deserves recognition.

Kelsey Bria

Kelsey Bria
She stayed late in clinic waiting for her last patient of the day who she thought may come but had not shown yet. The patient eventually came an hour late, and Kelsey was able to see her and take care of some very pressing concerns. I appreciated her willingness to take the time to make sure this patient had everything she needed.

Clay Davis

Clay Davis
Clay did such a great job and was so earnest in doing the right thing for his patients and in learning new things. He was responsible and trustworthy. It was enjoyable to work with such a great team player!

Geoff Ginter

Geoff Ginter
I would like to commend Dr. Ginter’s selfless dedication to patient care. In Friday afternoon clinic he very generously stayed late to see the last patient of the day, despite her arriving long after her appointment time. This late afternoon visit caused him to have to rearrange his travel plans but he was gracious about it.

Samrah Razi

Samrah Razi
Samrah is a phenomenal clinician and joy to work with. She did an exceptional job on a busy VA firm service. She not only taught the senior how to use CPRS again but also managed multiple complex patients with great plans. She went above and beyond to work on discharge summaries for patients with complicated hospital courses even after being off service.

Morgan Kensinger

Morgan Kensinger
Dr. Kensinger was engaged and provided compassionate care to our onco-nephrology consult patients who were very complicated and also many with end of life issues. She interfaced with consulting teams – mostly surgical – with impressive authority and gained their trust. Her patients really appreciated her bedside approach and this is going to serve her and her patients so well in the future. We were so impressed with Dr. Kensinger and her dedication to medicine, so we are pleased to nominate her!
