AWAM will provide opportunities for career development, support career advancement, and implement policies and procedures that promote an equitable work environment.

Vision

Advancing Women in Academic Medicine (AWAM) works to achieve equitable career advancement for women faculty in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. 

Summary

Advancing Women in Academic Medicine (AWAM) is part of a comprehensive strategy within the Department of Medicine to enhance the professional advancement of women faculty. The program works closely with Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship and Social Justice (IDEAS) at Department of Medicine and partners with the Forum for Women in Medicine to build an environment that facilitates career achievement of women faculty and trainees. Guided by an executive committee with faculty representatives from various divisions, ranks, and tracks within the Department of Medicine, Advancing Women in Academic Medicine (AWAM) is a driving force for providing opportunities for professional development, supporting for career advancement, and creating a workplace culture that values equity.
