Dr. Priya Menon joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2023. She was born and raised in Kerala, India and graduated from Government Medical College, Thrissur. During her time at Government Medical College, she split her time volunteering at mass vaccination campaigns for underprivileged children, cervical cancer screening and raising awareness at far-flung, underserved areas, and at the charity wing that handed out free medications for the impoverished. She relocated to the United States following her graduation in a quest to improve her medical and research acumen. Prior to her matching into residency, Dr. Menon spent several months in different cancer centers and teaching hospitals to familiarize herself to the practice of medicine in United States.
She also worked as a research assistant at the hematology/oncology department in Upstate Medical University where she worked on the research project looking into the transcriptomic profiling of early-stage mucinous breast cancers. Dr. Menon completed her internship and residency at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in 2023. She served as the chief resident during her third and final year of residency. She was part of the program evaluation committee and acted as a resident advocate for the proposed changes to the program and ensuring compliance with ACGME standards. She also was a part of the LGBTQ clinical taskforce to improve the cultural competence of the residency program and the delivery of medical care to diverse patient population. Dr. Menon’s key interests include inpatient medicine with focus on immuno-oncology, transplant-oncology, and antibiotic stewardship. In her free time, she loves spending time with her puppy, going on road trips, and reading a good whodunnit novel.
