Dr. Michelle Freilich joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in June of 2023. She was born in Orlando, Florida and grew up in Lake Mary, Florida. She attended the University of Florida and graduated cum laude in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Business Administration. After her undergraduate years, she spent two years working as an Emergency Department scribe which solidified her desire to pursue medicine. She obtained her medical degree in 2020 from Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. During her time in medical school, she engaged in activities to improve community health including serving on a committee that raised money to provide screening mammograms to underserved women.
She also fostered teaching skills by serving as a tutor for undergraduate medical students. She excelled academically and received the American Medical Women’s Association Glasgow-Rubin Certificate of Commendation for Academic Achievement and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Freilich completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis prior to joining the division in 2023. Her current clinical interests include general internal medicine with a focus on inpatient care and underserved populations. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, hiking, working out, and visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden and Forest Park. She looks forward to providing care for her patients as a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine.
