I am pleased to announce that Deborah Parks, MD has been appointed as the Medical Director of the Medicine Multispecialty Center (MMC) and Infusion Center on CAM 5. Dr. Parks received her medical degree from the University of Louisville and completed her internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship training at BJH/WashU. She is an outstanding rheumatologist who is highly regarded by her colleagues and patients. She has been a champion for optimizing patient care and brings a wealth of experience to this role. Dr. Dan Coyne previously served in this capacity until his retirement this summer.
Dr. Parks joined WashU as faculty in 2011 and is currently a Professor of Medicine and Clinical Operations Director for the Rheumatology Division. She has been involved in many patient safety initiatives in Rheumatology and led the development of biologic therapy plans at our Infusion Centers. In addition to being a very busy clinician, she is the PI in multiple investigator-initiated clinical studies and site PI for several clinical trials.
Dr. Parks will join our other clinic medical directors; Dr. Jeremy Katcher (MMC at MOB2 in West County), Dr. Sudhir Jain (MMC at the CAM in South County), and Dr. E. P. Barrette (MMC at Village Square) who provide leadership at our DOM multispecialty outpatient care locations. The Medical Directors work within the framework of the Ambulatory Operations Executive Council (A-OEC) of the Department of Medicine serving as physician liaisons to optimize MMC clinical operations and quality and safety initiatives. The Medical Directors work closely with Clinic Administrators to oversee clinical operations at all of our outpatient care sites and Infusion Centers.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Coyne for his service and in congratulating Dr. Parks on her new leadership role.
