Dr. Ali Javaheri joined the Department of Medicine as Instructor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division on August 11, 2017. He was previously at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Javaheri’s clinical interests are treatment of advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. Dr. Javaheri has research interests that are aligned with his clinical interests, including preventing heart failure after myocardial ischemic injury or chemotherapeutic cardiotoxicity. In the setting of transplant, Dr. Javaheri has interests in preventing chronic rejection and cardiac allograft vasculopathy. Mechanistically, Dr. Javaheri is focused on the role of autophagy in inflammatory cells and cardiac cells, and how lipoproteins and lipids can alter the functions of these cells by targeting autophagy to influence cardiac function.
