Victoria J. Fraser, MD, Adolphus Busch Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine, was awarded the Association of Professors of Medicine (APM) Robert H. Williams, MD, Distinguished Chair of Medicine Award as part of the 2023 Alliance Awards through the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM).
The Robert H. Williams, MD, Distinguished Chair of Medicine Award is presented by the Association of Professors of Medicine (APM) to a physician who has demonstrated outstanding leadership as the chair of a department of internal medicine. The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) promotes the advancement and professional development of its members who prepare the next generation of internal medicine physicians and leaders through education, research, engagement, and collaboration. APM is one of the founding members of AAIM.
“The Williams Distinguished Chair of Medicine Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership as chair of a department of internal medicine, has been awarded to individuals who have made some of the most important contributions to academic internal medicine,” remarks Clay F. Semenkovich, MD, Irene E. and Michael M. Karl Professor of Medicine, Chief, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research. “Nominating Dr. Fraser was the right thing to do. She is a passionate advocate for the privilege of practicing internal medicine, a responsible manager of resources without making acquisition of resources the goal of the department, an empathic listener, an elite clinician, a strategic thinker who clearly articulates goals to the faculty, a leader who readily delegates responsibilities in the process of showing confidence in her colleagues, a person of impeccable integrity, and a selfless servant leader who promotes the pursuit of dignity for all.”
Fraser will be presented the award during the 2023 APM Winter Meeting which will be held March 1-4, in San Diego, CA. The Williams Award has been awarded annually since 1969.
