Internal Medicine Intern Coaching Program

The Department of Medicine is recruiting faculty coaches for the Internal Medicine Intern Coaching Program, called GROW, for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The goal of the program is to provide interns with a dedicated faculty partner who can support their professional growth, goal setting, and well-being throughout the challenges and transitions of intern year. Coaching is distinct from advising or mentoring; it uses a learner-centered, relationship-based approach that helps trainees identify goals, reflect on their experiences, and develop strategies for success.

Faculty Coach Commitment

  • Attend a 45-min welcome/training; virtually or asynchronously
  • Meet individually with 1-2 assigned intern 3–4 times during the academic year (approximately 1 hour per meeting)
  • Meeting guides and resources to be provided by the program
  • 1 year commitment with an option to renew
  • Faculty or fellow of any specialty, any level of training beyond residency

Timeline

  • Coach-intern pairings will be made in August 2026
  • The first coach-intern meeting is anticipated in September 2026
  • Follow-up meetings will occur quarterly through academic year

This is an excellent opportunity to support trainees during a formative stage of their training, contribute to graduate medical education, and develop coaching skills. If you are interested in serving as a coach, please complete the survey below:
