Haojia Wu, PhD

Haojia Wu, PhD, joined the Department of Medicine as an Instructor in the Division of Nephrology on September 1, 2017.

He started as a postdoc and member of The Humphreys Lab at Washington University School of Medicine. Wu works on using human stem cells to generate kidney organoids, with the goal of one day transplanting them into patients with kidney failure. Wu’s research expertise is in exploring stem cells as a novel therapeutic strategy for diabetic nephropathy and the use of single cell RNA sequencing.

Wu obtained his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. He finished his PhD in the Department of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

Previously, Wu was a research assistant in Dr. Sydney CW Tang’s Lab, Renal Division, The University of Hong Kong.

Wu is a previous associate member of the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology and a current fellow member of the American Society of Nephrology. He is co-author of nine papers.
