Acute Pulmonary Embolism in Practice: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on the 2026 AHA Guidelines

The Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine is pleased to introduce PERT in Practice, a new interdisciplinary educational series focused on the evaluation and management of pulmonary embolism. The Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) brings together expertise from multiple specialties to provide rapid assessment, risk stratification, and advanced treatment for patients with acute pulmonary embolism. With this series, the division aims to create a forum where clinicians across WashU Medicine can discuss challenging cases, emerging therapies, and evolving approaches to PE care.

Each of these web-based conferences will highlight real clinical scenarios and provide an opportunity for discussion among colleagues from pulmonary and critical care, cardiology, emergency medicine, vascular medicine, hematology, radiology, interventional specialties, and other disciplines involved in PE care. PERT in Practice is designed to be interactive and collaborative, with the goal of strengthening connections across departments while sharing perspectives that improve the care of patients with pulmonary embolism.
