Dr. Reena Gurung will be joining the faculty this summer and fall. Dr. Gurung received her MD from the School of Medical Sciences, Kathmandu University in Nepal. She subsequently spent two years as a Senior House Officer in the UK before moving to St. Louis, where she completed internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a Chief Resident during her PGY3 year. She then spent four years as a Hospitalist Attending here at Barnes-Jewish Hospital before enrolling in the Loyola University Nephrology Fellowship. We were fortunate that she transferred here in 2020. Reena will be joining Drs. Davis and Metireddy in our community based practice. During her research and scholarship blocks, Reena did outstanding work with Dr. Tingting Li, evaluating long-term outcomes in patients with primary FSGS. She also completed the first virtual glomerular disease fellowship, held by the Glomerular Disease Study and Trial Consortium.
Reena has proven to be a truly outstanding asset to our Division. She has easily met and exceeded the milestones and requirements established for our area. She has a deep fund of medical knowledge which she translates easily into her clinical practice. She is extremely thorough (one member of our clinical competency committee described her as “compulsively thorough”) and never seems to miss those minute details buried in the clinical history. She is a hard worker, a compassionate care giver, and a great colleague to her co fellows, faculty, and staff. Faculty members have already commented that being on service with her is like having another attending physician to work with. She also completed the first virtual glomerular disease fellowship, held by the Glomerular Disease Study and Trial Consortium.
