Dr. Patrick Olson joins the Department of Medicine

Patrick Olson, MD, PhD

Dr. Patrick Olson joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases as an instructor as of July 2024.  He completed the Medical Scientist Training Program, residency, and infectious disease fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine.  Dr. Olson is mentored by Dr. Juliane Bubeck-Wardenburg in the Department of Pediatrics.  His basic science interests focus on how asymptomatic colonization with Staphylococcus aureus influences the development of the immune response against the pathogen. He utilizes a combination of preclinical murine models and human immunophenotyping to investigate this.  Dr. Olson specializes in the primary care of patients with HIV and other chronic viral infections.  He sees patients in the WUSM HIV clinic on the medical campus and attends on the general infectious diseases consult service at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
