Dr. David Tabagari joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2024. He was born and raised in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia and moved to United States in 2021 to complete his Internal Medicine residency training. He attended and received his medical degree in 2017 from Tbilisi State Medical University. After graduating, he worked in “Multiprofile Clinic Consilium Medulla” in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia as a Junior Doctor and later as a Resident Physician in the Hematology-Oncology program where he participated in various projects and was working on several major clinical trials.
Along with his mentors, he also created a Georgian version of pocket patient encounter and physical examination for beginner resident physicians, for proper onboarding and training of new hires. He is currently a co-founder of “Multiprofile Clinic Consilium Medulla” and is using his training and experience to be actively involved in implementing international standards to provide highest quality medical care for patients in his home country. He completed his internship and residency at University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia prior to joining the division in 2024.
This experience further solidified his interest in inpatient care, especially for Hematology and Oncology patients. Dr. Tabagari’s current areas of interest are general internal medicine with focus on inpatient care with special interest in Hematology and Oncology as well as detection and management of immunotherapeutic adverse events requiring hospitalization. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, skiing, traveling and visiting art museums. He loves spending time with his family and taking his son to the St. Louis Science Center.
