The Roads to Success educator development session was held on January 15 and 16, 2026. These sessions are held twice a year with a focus on inpatient and ambulatory teachers across the Department of Medicine, with the next one scheduled for Fall 2026. The specific date is yet to be determined.

Roads to Success
Background & History
The Division of Hospital Medicine faculty has grown significantly in the last decade, with faculty taking key roles in training students and residents. We created the 1.5-day Roads to Success seminar in 2023 to offer our faculty vital information about medical education skills, quality improvement, wellness, mentorship, career paths, and promotion strategies. The seminar combines interactive lectures with breakout small group sessions. Due to its success, the program was expanded to include faculty throughout the entire Department of Medicine.
Participants Feedback
“Liked the strong focus on teaching; seeing tips and tricks with establishing expectations for rotators/team members and linking that to effective lecture techniques was good and I think synergistic.”
“I like being able to see how my colleagues formulate short lectures; also I enjoyed connecting with my co-faculty members in the belonging and wellness activity.”
“We got to know our colleagues in a deeper more meaningful way.”
“Level of engagement is great!!”
“Advice on how to find a mentor and be a good mentee. This is something I’ve been trying to figure out since I’ve arrived at WashU and hadn’t known how to start until this talk gave me the tools.”
