Keible

July 2024 Inpatient Intern of the Month
Dr. Laura Keible

Laura’s list for her first month of intern year was objectively exhausting in terms of clinical decision making, organization of logistics, and emotional toll. I cannot imagine having a full eight patient list as a new intern with half of them needing palliative care consults with daily goals of care conversations, and the other half requiring three consults and multiple procedures each. But Laura handled the workload with finesse and persistence, advocating for her patients and their care no matter what issues she came up against. Her resilience and character are very noteworthy, and will make her an excellent physician for all of her patients.

Waleed Ali

July 2024 Inpatient Intern of the Month
Dr. Waleed Ali

Waleed did an excellent job on his first ever MICU rotation. He consistently had great knowledge of his patients, led multiple goals of care discussions by himself (even with someone who needed a translator and had multiple teams involved in their care), and provided very compassionate care. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and proactive. He would have transfer notes pended before even asking and had organized and thorough plans. I was very happy to have him as one of my interns!

Guduguntla

July 2024 Inpatient Resident of the Month
Dr. Bhavna Guduguntla

From Dr. Picker: I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Guduguntla in the beginning of July. Dr. Guduguntla made this completely effortless and smooth. The team was run efficiently, with attention to detail, and with demonstration of mastery of clinical medicine. Plans of care were correct, no orders missed and no work was leftover on days off. More importantly, Bhavna took the time to ensure every single family was updated and had opportunities to discuss plans of care. Patients, families, as well as hospital staff were treated with respect and empathy. Well deserving of recognition. Operating at independent level entirely.

From Dr. Wallenkampf: I also had the opportunity to work with Dr. Guduguntla more closely while at the VA in my Chief Role. She visited me in the office several times to ask how she could improve as a senior, how to support her intern better, and she demonstrated excellent insight into how she could become an even better senior. She implemented changes and followed up regarding outcomes. Her dedication to improvement, evidenced by debriefing, goal-setting, and check-ins, is impressive and to be emulated.

Rosie Quinn

July 2024 Inpatient Resident of the Month
Dr. Rosie Quinn

Rosie has navigated numerous challenging experiences on AMBJAR with poise and confidence. Rosie has helped out colleagues by seeing patients when needed, among these experiences, she had a patient who needed emergent care but was involved in challenging familial circumstances.

Rosie clearly cared about the patient’s well being and sought out additional resources to ensure that follow up is organized for the patient’s sake so that they may get the proper care. She did everything in her power to provide care for the patient. Rosie is an excellent example of a compassionate and experienced physician.

Kudos

Dr. Fatimah Sajjad
Fatimah Sajjad
“What an incredible way to start my first intern firm block! Fatimah displayed incredible leadership as our senior on Cards. She encouraged us to think for ourselves while helping us organize and become more efficient with our workflow. She displayed great kindness to her patients and fostered an excellent team chemistry. What an awesome leader!”
Dr. Joshua Membreno
Joshua Membreno
“Dr. Membreno was seeing a patient in PCMC for an IOV and identified a new visual complaint amidst the patient’s myriad chief concerns. He performed a direct ophthalmoscope exam and diagnosed a retinal detachment from his history and exam–resulting in prompt transfer to the ER and ophtho eval, which confirmed the diagnosis. Nominating him for his detailed history taking and focused clinical exam skills leading to potentially vision-saving treatment for his patient.”
Dr. Daniel Ladin
Dan Ladin
“Dan was an excellent senior! He gave me the freedom to make decisions and take full responsibility for patient care. He was always available to provide help, assistance, and guidance when needed.”
Dr. Adam Kneepkens
Adam Kneepkens
“Adam was a great senior on MICU in July. He had a total of 5 new interns in the first 2.5 weeks of the year and orientated each one of them with patience, grace, and kindness despite being slammed in the MICU. He was also incredibly helpful to me and my co-JAR, offering us guidance on handing difficult social situations, complex management questions, and taking tasks off our plate on busy solo JAR days. Moreover, Adam is a joy to work with! He is responsible, knowledge, and competent but also understanding, relaxed, and super funny. Due to this, he made our workroom feel like a safe space to actually learn and improve in. I would love to work with him again and anyone who gets the chance to will be better for it.”
Dr. Kamilah Scales
Kamilah Scales
“Dr. Scales did an excellent job staffing complex patients in the COH from day 1. Dr. Scales had a patient who presented after a recent hospitalization due to cardiac arrest and was able to succinctly summarize the hospital course, active issues at the present visit, and triage important short term and long term care goals. Dr. Scales was clearly knowledgeable about the entire clinical course and went above and beyond providing everything the patient needed addressed that day (which was a lot!)”

Congratulations to all our amazing residents, and thank you for the work that you do!
