Dr. Vorachart Auethavekiat joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hematology as an Assistant Professor in June 2024. He completed his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Washington University in 1996. After that he worked almost exclusively in the VA system. He was with St Louis VA system from 1996 to 2012. Initially he was also working part time in the Division of Hematology at Washington University but then after 1999 he started working exclusively in the VA system but continued to attend in Internal Medicine inpatient service along with supervising hematology/oncology fellows at St Louis VA Medical Center as a Washington University faculty. Dr. Auethavekiat then moved to the Hematology/Oncology Department at Marion VAMC in 2012.
It was a solo rural hematology/oncology practice in the VA system. He was there between 2012 and 2016. After a brief retirement, he restarted working part time in hematology/oncology department at St Louis VAMC in January 2017. In addition to his clinical work, he also supervised hematology/oncology fellows both in the outpatient and in the inpatient settings. Formally, he was a member of St Louis University inpatient hematology/oncology team. Then, he again went back into retirement in 2021 for personal reasons. Dr. Auethavekiat is back working part time in the Division of Hematology again at Washington University as of June 2024. His work will be focused mainly on inpatient services. His key interests are outpatient and inpatient care.
