William McCoy, MD, PhD

William McCoy IV, MD, PhD joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology on July 1, 2017.

Dr. McCoy graduated with a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002, and completed his honors thesis under the direction of Dr. Linda Jen-Jacobson. He enrolled at Washington University School of Medicine in the Medical Scientist Training Program, earning an M.D. and Ph.D. in Immunology in 2013 under the direction of Dr. Daved Fremont. Dr. McCoy then completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in dermatology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2017, and was a fellow of the Physician Scientist Training Program. He is currently pursuing postdoctoral research under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Henderson using multi-omics approaches (microbiome and metabolomics) to determine how host-microbe interactions at epithelial barrier sites impact skin disease. Clinically, he specializes in acne, autoinflammatory diseases, & autoimmunity after immunotherapy.
