Advancing Women in Academic Medicine (AWAM) has been working closely with Dr. Fraser and division chiefs in the department to develop a departmental leadership statement and to create a more standardized form for annual faculty reviews to improve transparency and consistency in evaluations. The new leadership statement reinforces the importance of our people as our greatest resource, the imperative for diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism in all of the department’s work, and explicitly recognizes the contributions of clinical care, research and education to the mission of the department. We have also developed a more standardized form for annual faculty reviews that can better capture faculty contributions in all domains, including DEI work and COVID focused work. We are hopeful the forms will facilitate clearer communication of progress towards promotion for all faculty. The new forms are being finalized and will be distributed soon.
