Overview
The Immunomonitoring Lab at the Bursky Center for Human Immunology & Immunotherapy provides the structure, instrumentation and expertise to monitor the impact of specific immunotherapies. Bristol Myers Squibb is inviting early-career scientists (e.g. postdoctoral scholars) to apply for a 3-year Research Fellowship by proposing innovative research projects in neurodegeneration and related fields. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pursue their scientific vision, with the support of BMS resources and expertise, toward the goal of developing novel therapeutics for patients.

Areas of Interest

Fellows are encouraged to propose projects within the following areas:

  • Neurodegeneration — including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and related dementias.
  • Immunoinflammation in Neurodegeneration — exploring the role of neuroinflammatory and immune pathways in neurodegenerative disease.
  • Psychiatry — focused on psychiatric conditions sharing biological mechanisms with neurodegeneration.

Note: Proposals primarily focused on sleep disorders will not be considered.

Biomarker Priorities

Proposals addressing the discovery and validation of biomarkers are strongly encouraged, particularly in:

  • Neuroinflammation.
  • Alzheimer’s disease risk.
  • Anti-amyloid treatment response.
  • Anti-tau treatment response.

Ideal Candidate

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Immunology, or a related field, with a strong
research background, a compelling project proposal, and an interest in translational science.

  1. Name of the Applicant.
  2. Name of the Principal Investigator Supporting the Applicant.
  3. Title of the Project.
  4. Research Description (Background, Significance to the field, Description of Innovation).
  5. Specifics Aims/Objectives and Anticipated Timeline.
  6. Brief Experimental Design/Methods, including roles and responsibilities for each party,
    any material exchange, any in-kind support from BMS, etc.
  7. Expected Results and Deliverables (e.g. anticipated data/results, model generation, etc.).
  8. Potential Impact to the Field and/or BMS.
  9. Other considerations:
    • Has any IP been filed yet as it pertains to this proposal?
    • Any federal funding such that Bayh Dole may be a consideration?
    • Any other considerations? (Licenses, material acquisitions, etc.)
  10. Letter Length: Maximum 2 Pages.
  11. Deadline: Tuesday, September 1st .
