Residents of the Month

Dr. Jessica Liebiech: “She is an intern is currently performing at the level of a 3rd year resident. On firm, she is meticulous, independent, and fun to work with. She is also very caring about her patients and behaves extremely professionally. She showed a flood of compassion to a patient with newly diagnosed malignancy which made her stay and rapport extremely comfortable. She also shows very strong clinical reasoning capabilities.”

Dr. Derek Platt: “He did an outstanding job caring for acutely ill patients with complex psychosocial needs. What stood out most was his resilience and patience as he worked with one particularly challenging patient, trying to help him understand his illnesses and worsening health, even though the patient remained convinced he would get better despite clear evidence to the contrary. He routinely spent 30–60minutes each day with this patient, working to improve his insight and doing everything possible to prevent an in-hospital death. He has a kind heart, a strong clinical foundation, and a sharp mind—all of which make me confident he will be an exceptional physician–scientist in the near future. I feel very lucky to work with him.”

Dr. Rosie Quinn: “She is one of the best residents I’ve had the pleasure to work with. She exemplifies what it means to be a physician—compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply committed to both her patients and her colleagues. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that every patient receives excellent care and that every member of the team feels supported. She anticipates needs, follows through meticulously, and brings a sense of calm, steady leadership to even the most challenging clinical situations. Her clinical reasoning and medical knowledge are exceptional. She demonstrates advanced independence and sound judgment well beyond her level of training, yet she maintains immense humility and openness to feedback. She navigates diagnostic uncertainty with ease, approaching complex cases with curiosity, structure, and grace. What stands out most is her leadership. She led our team on rounds with the poise of a seasoned attending—facilitating thoughtful discussions, empowering interns and students, and balancing patient care with teaching and efficiency. She models professionalism in every interaction and embodies the values of our program. It is no surprise that she was selected to serve as a future Chief Resident—she is already functioning in that capacity. She’s kindness, intelligence, and quiet confidence make her a clear role model to her peers. She elevates the people around her and represents the very best of our residency program.”

Dr. Delaney Feldeisen: “It was a privilege to work with her, who stands out as one of the finest residents I have had the opportunity to supervise. She consistently demonstrated exceptional clinical skills, efficiency and professionalism. She combines outstanding diagnostic reasoning with superb bedside communication and had a deeply compassionate approach to patient care. She excelled both as a team leader and an educator. She always took time out of her busy schedule to teach the medical students who both separately told me that she was the best resident they have encountered. Her performance on the inpatient service was truly exceptional, and I look forward to seeing her become a future leader in the field.”
Kudos

There is nothing better than opening a chart at the COH and seeing that Dr. Griffith was the last one to see your patient. He is always incredibly thorough and kind to my patients, and he never lets a team visit go by without advancing care.

Handling an ACT in the PCMC involving a co-worker with competence and care in the face of a confusing situation. And also for being gracious with missing an off day opportunity.
