Ludmerer Elected Editorial Board Representative of Honor Society’s Journal

Internal medicine specialist, medical historian is inaugural holder of the role

Kenneth M. Ludmerer, MD, the Mabel Dorn Reeder Distinguished Professor in the History of Medicine and a professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has been elected the inaugural editorial board representative of The Pharos, a journal of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He will serve a three-year term on the society’s Board of Directors.

The Pharos is a quarterly journal that publishes scholarly essays about nontechnical medical subjects, including medical history and ethics.

Also a professor of history in Arts & Sciences, Ludmerer is known for his outstanding contributions to residency training and his study of the history of medicine. His publications have provided the basic foundations for residency training programs and clinical specialty training programs across the country.

He has been recognized for his work with several awards, including the Distinguished Medical Alumnus Award of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Abraham Flexner Award for Distinguished Service to Medical Education. He is an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
