Dr. Zachary Morgan joins the Department of Medicine

Dr. Zachary Morgan joined the Department of Medicine in the Hospital Medicine division as an Instructor in June 2018 after completing his Internal Medicine training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. A native of Memphis, TN, he attended Rhodes College, earning a bachelors degree in Biology with numerous honors. He then matriculated at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, where he graduated with the highest honors and was awarded the Faculty Medal for his outstanding scholarship and clinical acumen.

Dr. Morgan then moved to St. Louis to begin Internal Medicine internship and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. There he was routinely recognized by the faculty for his excellent patient care and by his junior colleagues and medical students for his commitment to teaching.

He chose to pursue the specialty of Hospital Medicine due to his broad clinical interests encompassing all of the medical sub-specialties. He has a particular interest in using medical literature to disprove traditional and obsolete teachings. Dr. Morgan is also an active participant in studies to improve patient safety and provider-to-provider communication. He has a passion for educating medical trainees of all levels, using traditional lecture-based didactics, bedside exam and procedural instruction, and coaching effective communication. Throughout his training and career, he has dedicated himself to providing care to under served communities, and engages in advocacy to expand care to those communities.

When he is not providing exceptional patient care, Dr. Morgan enjoys spending time exploring the St. Louis community with his family. He and his wife welcomed their first daughter in December of 2017.
