Dr. Yaman Mkhaimer joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July of 2024. He was born and raised in Amman, Jordan, where he received his medical degree at the Hashemite University of Jordan in 2016. In 2020, he moved to Minnesota to join the Mayo Clinic Nephrology and Hypertension Department as a research associate, to fathom his interest in clinical research. Shortly after, he joined the University of Missouri Kansas City, where he completed his Internal Medicine Residency prior to joining the division in 2024. Throughout his residency, he cultivated a strong affinity for teaching and mentorship, building meaningful relationships with medical students and junior colleagues through grand rounds and presentations.
Dr. Mkhaimer developed a compelling interest in the Cardiology and Heart Failure field, immersing himself in research studies with particular focus on quality and outpatient follow-up improvement. He was even provided the opportunity to present several papers at the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association conferences. His present academic interests center around general Internal Medicine, with specific inclination towards acute cardiovascular care, quality improvement initiatives, and employing multidisciplinary approaches to medical treatment. Outside of medicine, he likes to travel and explore, journeying through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He also likes hiking, playing soccer, and tennis. He is outgoing and likes to go out with friends and family. Dr. Mkhaimer looks forward to providing adequate care for his patients as a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine, and growing his contributions to the field of general medicine and cardiology.
