Dr. Urvi Holmes joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine as an Instructor as of July 2026.
Originally hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Holmes moved to St. Louis in 2014. She completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated magna cum laude with degrees in Biochemistry and Anthropology. She participated in several medical and community outreach programs.
She completed her medical training at Washington University School of Medicine, where she received her medical degree and Master’s in Population Health Science in 2023. During her time there, she was involved in various activities including volunteering in the free student-run clinic. She also participated in research projects regarding barriers to preventative care for underserved patients in the primary care setting.
Dr. Holmes then completed both her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO, where she also served as a third year Chief Resident. She engaged in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives including creating and disseminating a standardized protocol for rapid response teams with the goal of reducing length of rapid responses and improving patient outcomes.
Her current clinical interests include general internal medicine, inpatient medicine, and management of both chronic and acute disease states in the hospital. She is passionate about improving patient safety through systems-level research and innovation. Outside of the hospital, her hobbies include camping, indoor cycling, and reading. She is excited to join the team and take care of patients as part of Hospital Medicine.
