Dr. Tarek Bakain joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2024. He was born and raised in Amman-Jordan and pursued his medical degree at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, graduating with University Honors in 2018. His passion for medicine extended beyond academics. During his medical school years, he was actively involved with the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), organizing numerous campaigns and events aimed at improving health care for underserved populations and refugees in Jordan. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University – Washington Hospital Center in 2024, before joining the Division of Hospital Medicine.
Throughout his residency, Dr. Bakain engaged in several quality improvement projects and research within the hospital medicine and gastroenterology field and was able to provide care to a variety of populations and age groups and keeping up his passion for helping underserved communities. He enjoys teaching and working with both medical students and residents. Dr. Bakain is particularly interested in general internal medicine, focusing on inpatient care with a keen interest in Gastroenterology. Beyond his professional life, he loves to spend time with his family and friends, exploring all the restaurants, rooftops, and speakeasies. His interests include travel, cooking, and sports such as soccer and tennis. As he joins the Division of Hospital Medicine, he is eager to continue caring for his patients with dedication and expertise.
