Dr. Spencer Ng joins the Department of Medicine

Spencer Ng, MD, PhD

Dr. Spencer Ng joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology as an Assistant Professor in July 2024. He received his BSc in Cancer and Cell Biology from McGill University and subsequently received his MD and PhD degrees from Emory University. His PhD dissertation work focused on enhancing immune-based therapies against cancer and autoimmune disease. He went on to complete a transitional year internship in Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) where he was named the Suzanne G. Monson Intern of the Year. He subsequently completed Dermatology residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Ng remained on faculty as an Instructor in the Department of Dermatology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

With support from the Dermatology Foundation, he pursued a post-doctoral fellowship investigating potential driver mutations and therapeutic targets in cutaneous lymphomas.  Prior to his appointment, Dr. Ng most recently completed his Dermatopathology fellowship at MSKCC. His clinical interests include oncodermatology (cutaneous immune-related adverse events/skin toxicity from cancer-directed therapy), complex medical dermatology, and cutaneous lymphomas. His research interests focus on molecular pathology and immune profiling of neoplastic and inflammatory skin conditions, with the intention of understanding how dysregulation of the immune system within the skin contributes to dermatologic disease.  Beyond these interests, Dr. Ng is also passionate about medical education and academic mentorship.
