Dr. Soophia Naydenov joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as a Professor in January 2025. She is dedicated to excelling in clinical care, educational initiatives, and administrative leadership. Her mission is to enhance PE patient care across all treatment stages, from acute care to long-term follow-up, through innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary approaches. Throughout her career, she has aimed to improve patient outcomes, foster professional development, and integrate inpatient and outpatient services to provide comprehensive care.
As an active contributor to educational programs and clinical trials, she works to advance treatment strategies and promote collaboration within and across medical disciplines. She serves on the Board of Directors for The National PERT Consortium which allows her to shape PE care standards, advocate for better patient outcomes, and support the development of future healthcare professionals.
Dr. Naydenov’s commitment to clinical excellence, education, and leadership reflects a holistic approach to elevating pulmonary embolism care standards and fostering a resilient, forward-thinking healthcare community. She strives to inspire progress in the field and create lasting value for colleagues, students, and patients alike. Her key interests are pulmonary embolism, venous thromboembolic disease, chronic thromboembolic hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary vascular disease, deep venous thrombosis, chronic dyspnea evaluation and thrombophilia.
