Dr. Sayel Alzraikat joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. Born and raised in Amman, Jordan, he earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan, where he developed a strong interest in clinical practice and research. During medical school, he worked on multiple projects, including global collaborative initiatives on COVID-19, and served as a part-time instructor, sparking his passion for academics.
Beyond clinical practice, he actively participated in volunteer initiatives supporting underserved communities and combating the stigma surrounding mental health. Dr. Alzraikat completed his residency at MedStar Georgetown University – Washington Hospital Center in 2025. Throughout his training, he engaged in research, primarily in Gastroenterology, while also being deeply involved in teaching medical students and junior residents. He found great fulfillment in mentoring trainees, guiding them through clinical decision-making, and helping them develop their skills. Additionally, he continued his commitment to community outreach by delivering educational presentations at senior centers to raise awareness about common medical conditions.
His key interests are inpatient care, with a particular interest in Gastroenterology. Dr. Alzraikat is excited to join the Division of Hospital Medicine and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Additionally, he Alzraikat is eager to continue teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, further fostering his passion for medical education and contributing to the growth of future physicians. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports like tennis and billiards, and exploring new destinations and culinary scenes during his travels.
