Dr. Nikita Wadhwani joins the Department of Medicine

Nikita Wadhwani, MD

Dr. Nikita Wadhwani joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. The stark differences in access to healthcare drew her into the field of medicine. Additionally, growing up in a household with varied cultural backgrounds and perspectives shaped her understanding of accepting and valuing different viewpoints from an early age. She strongly believes that healthcare professionals can play an instrumental role in attaining healthcare equity by utilizing a multifaceted approach involving robust advocacy measures for patient-centric outcomes.

She received her medical degree in 2018 from the University of Delhi and recently completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Hackensack Meridian Health in NJ. Dr. Wadhwani actively partook in the development and implementation of resident mentorship initiatives and worked closely with other co-mentors to strategically devise tailored plans aimed at easing the transition, and progression of mentees through various clinical competency milestones.

She worked toward eliminating impediments to healthcare access and facilitating provision of resources to the medically underserved cohorts through her continual participation in community outreach events, health education initiatives, health & wellness fairs, and curbside/drive-through vaccination programs. Dr. Wadhwani is greatly passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and graduate medical education, and she looks forward to teaching and working with medical students and residents. Her key interests are inpatient care and preventative medicine. She is greatly appreciative of the incredible opportunities for personal and professional growth in academia and is very excited to join the Division of Hospital Medicine at WashU Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, running and being nurtured by nature.
