New Faculty Welcome to WashU

Dr. Neil Parker joins the Department of Medicine

Neil Parker, MD

Dr. Neil Parker joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as an Assistant Professor as of August 2026.

Because of his deep love of the sciences, Dr. Parker was inspired to pursue medicine as a career early in his life, knowing it was a field where he could continually learn as well as help others. He completed undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, then attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. Continuing at SIU, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine and served as Chief of Residents, where he worked with his team to create a robust didactic curriculum.

After his chief year, he went to Lutheran General in Park Ridge to complete a fellowship in critical care and enjoyed educating residents and junior fellows while designing a formal critical care curriculum with a faculty mentor. In his free time, he loves to travel with his wife and friends, try new restaurants and foods, and play all kinds of games, from cards and tabletop to video.
