Dr. Nathaniel Moulton joins the Department of Medicine

Nathaniel Moulton, MD

Dr. Moulton will be joining the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Originally from Missouri, he graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Biology from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He then went on to study at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri where he was recognized as Outstanding Senior Medical Student in Internal Medicine. Following medical school he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to his appointment as faculty, he completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care here at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to seeing patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, he specializes in Interventional Pulmonology utilizing minimally invasive techniques to care for patients with disorders of the mediastinum, pleura, early and advanced lung cancer, and complex diseases of the airway.

His research interests include studying the clinical utilization of biomarkers in early lung cancer and improving advanced bronchoscopic techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Dr. Moulton is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease and is board eligible in Critical Care Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. His key interests are interventional Pulmonology utilizing minimally invasive techniques to care for patients with disorders of the mediastinum, pleura, early and advanced lung cancer, and complex diseases of the airway and research areas are studying the clinical utilization of biomarkers in early lung cancer improving advanced bronchoscopic techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family visiting many of the family-friendly sites around St. Louis. He is an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and frequent attendee of the St. Louis Municipal Theatre and Fox Theatre.
