Dr. Michelle Baliss joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor in July 2025. Her clinical focus lies in advanced endoscopic procedures with expertise in therapeutic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), advanced endoscopic resection techniques (endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection), peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for the management of achalasia, advanced management of gastrointestinal tract strictures including inflammatory bowel disease-related strictures, the management of complex pancreaticobiliary disorders, enteral stenting, and Barrett’s esophagus endoluminal therapy.
A passionate educator, Dr. Baliss has led curriculum development in endoscopy and clinical education and is actively involved in advancing medical education through both traditional and digital platforms. Her research interests center on clinical outcomes and innovations in advanced endoscopy, post-endoscopy complications, improving the outcomes of minimally invasive advanced endoscopic procedures to help patients avoid surgery, pancreaticobiliary disorders, and quality improvement in GI care.
