Dr. Melissa Kaltenbach joins the Department of Medicine joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor as of January 2026.
Dr. Kaltenbach received her MD from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her clinical training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also received her Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kaltenbach is the Director of Hepatology at the John Cochran VA Medical Center. Her clinical and research interests include alcohol related liver disease, liver transplantation, and sepsis in patients with cirrhosis.
