Dr. Matthew Schroeder joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor as of July 2026.
A native St. Louisan, Dr. Schroeder received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Following residency, he served as chief resident for the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern before returning home to St. Louis. He completed gastroenterology fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2026, where he served as the division’s inaugural chief fellow during his final year of training.
