Dr. Majd Mokbel joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. He started his journey at the University of Michigan Dearborn for his undergraduate studies, graduating with a double major in biochemistry and Spanish. Following graduation, Dr. Mokbel followed his passion for community service by serving in AmeriCorps City Year, working in a 6th grade math classroom in inner-city Detroit. Afterwards, Dr. Mokbel attended the University of Michigan Medical School, graduating in 2021. Throughout medical school, he helped lead the Project H community clinic which served unhoused and sheltered individuals in the Detroit area, and the Medical Students of Middle Eastern Descent student group.
In 2025, he completed his residency in combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at the University of Michigan, during which time he participated in the House Officer Selection Committee, led various refugee health initiatives and enjoyed volunteering at the student run free clinic. His continued clinical interests are in refugee health, medical education, and pediatric to adult care transitions. He was born in Southeast Michigan where he enjoyed living near his extended, ever growing Lebanese family. Outside of work, Dr. Mokbel enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, gardening, playing basketball, and rooting for Detroit and University of Michigan sports teams. He is also a passionate brisket smoker and babka maker.
