Dr. Jessica Ohemeng-Dapaah joins the Department of Medicine

Jessica Ohemeng-Dapaah, MD

Dr. Jessica Ohemeng-Dapaah joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana, West Africa, in 2011. She then completed her medical degree, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, in 2014. Following graduation, Dr. Ohemeng-Dapaah worked as a general practitioner at a community hospital in Accra, the bustling capital of Ghana, where she gained invaluable experience providing healthcare in a resource-limited setting. Dr. Ohemeng-Dapaah relocated to the United States to pursue a career in Internal Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. In the third year of her residency, she was honored to be appointed the Quality Improvement Chief Resident.  

In this role, she was instrumental in guiding residents to develop and implement quality assurance processes aimed at improving clinical outcomes, particularly in the Internal Medicine Resident Clinic. Her efforts included developing root cause analyses of adverse events and advocating for the adoption of evidence-based practices. Her clinical interests lie in internal medicine, with a special focus on hematologic conditions and cancer care. Dr. Ohemeng-Dapaah is passionate about reducing healthcare disparities and working to bridge the socioeconomic gaps that impact patient care. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively engaged in research and has published several peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Ohemeng-Dapaah enjoys reading fiction, baking, and spending quality time with her family exploring the outdoors.
