Dr. James McMenimen joins the Department of Medicine

James McMenimen, MD

Dr. James McMenimen joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine as an Instructor as of March 2026.

Dr. McMenimen received his medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2018. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2021. He then completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship in 2025, serving as Chief Fellow in 2024-2025. Dr. McMenimen has an interest in the care of adult People with Cystic Fibrosis as well as the evaluation for lung transplant and care of lung transplant recipients.

Additionally, Dr. McMenimen cares for patients with non-CF bronchiectasis as well as pulmonary diseases such as asthma, COPD and care of patients in the intensive care unit. His research interests involve clinical outcomes research and clinical trials in the areas of Cystic Fibrosis and lung transplantation.
