Dr. Rim Hasan joins the Department of Medicine

Dr. Rim Hasan joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research as an Instructor on September 1, 2019. From 2004 to 2011, she attended Medical School at Damascus University in Syria. She then joined the Knowledge Synthesis Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, first as a research trainee and then as a collaborator. She conducted numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses that have been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Subsequently, Dr. Hasan pursued her internal medicine internship and residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia from 2012 to 2015. She then went on to join the Endocrinology fellowship program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from 2015-2017.

Dr. Hasan is interested in clinical and academic endocrinology. During her medical training, she enjoyed teaching residents and medical students with a particular focus on evidence-based medicine. She also took part in creating online courses in Endocrinology for besieged medical students in Syria unable to attend their classes due to the ongoing war.

Dr. Hasan’s practice is patient-centered, and she enjoys building relationships with her patients. Her goal is to provide high-quality patient care, taking into account patients’ preferences and values. She also believes in minimally-disruptive medicine which aims at working across health care delivery to pursue patients’ goals with the least possible health care footprint on their lives.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hasan enjoys oil painting, gardening, yoga, classical music and going for walks around the Missouri Botanical Garden.
