Dr. Gassan Kassim joins the Department of Medicine

Gassan Kassim, MD

Dr. Gassan Kassim joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor in July of 2025. He graduated from medical school as valedictorian at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai in New York City. He completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship training at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He then sought further training and completed an advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. 

Dr. Kassim is focused and passionate about providing exceptional comprehensive care to patients dealing with inflammatory bowel disease. He is also focused on improving access of care to underserved populations. His other clinical interests include the use of intestinal ultrasound, as well as prevention, diagnosis and treatment of various GI conditions and gastrointestinal malignancies. He is passionate about and actively involved in medical education. His research focus is on improving clinical outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology.
