Dr. Fang Zhao will join Washington University after her fellowship in 2021 at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Her residency was in 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University. She received her MD in 2016 from the University of Chicago and her PhD in 2012 from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK and National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD.
Her key interests are Immunology, Autoimmunity and other inflammatory disorders; immunodeficiency and her research areas are elucidating mechanisms by which host-gut microbiome interactions regulate immune homeostasis, response to infection, and the development of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and examining pathways underlying normal and pathologic immune responses through studies of novel inborn errors of immunity.
