Throughout residency, he was actively involved in multiple quality improvement initiatives focused on optimizing inpatient workflows, strengthening patient safety practices, and improving overall clinical outcomes. His work emphasized evidence-based care delivery, systems-based practice, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration. He values team-based care and works closely with nursing staff, pharmacists, case managers, and consulting services to ensure efficient, patient-centered treatment and safe transitions of care.

Dr. Sha’ban has a strong interest in medical education and enjoys working with medical students and residents in the clinical setting. He is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment and emphasizes the importance of clinical reasoning, professionalism, and lifelong learning. He also places a strong emphasis on patient education and shared decision-making, believing that informed patients and families are better equipped to participate meaningfully in care planning, recovery, and long-term health maintenance.

His clinical focus is general internal medicine with an emphasis on hospital-based care, including the management of acutely ill and medically complex patients. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Sha’ban enjoys traveling, swimming, and playing soccer, as well as spending time with family. He is enthusiastic about contributing to the academic, clinical, and patient-care mission of Washington University and is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate inpatient care as part of Hospital Medicine.
