Dr. Brendan Knapp joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Oncology as an Assistant Professor as of August 2025. He is a clinical investigator interested in the management of patients with lung and head and neck malignancies. He obtained his bachelor’s degree of science from Purdue University in 2015 and his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2019. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at WashU Medicine/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2022 and remained at WashU for his fellowship in hematology and oncology, finishing in 2025.
Dr. Knapp’s research interests include developing investigator-initiated trials for patients with relapsed lung and head/neck cancers and using population-level data sets for research of these malignancies. He is also interested in identifying predictors of the development of bone metastases in lung cancer and in optimizing the management of patients with bone metastases. He enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in his clinic. Outside of work, he is an avid runner and hiker.
