Dr. Andrew Jones jointed the Department of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology as an Assistant Professor in July 2024. Through his background in immunology and rheumatology, he has developed an interest in understanding the mechanisms that drive development of autoimmune blood vessel diseases known as vasculitis. He is also interested in developing and optimizing therapeutic strategies to better treat this group of diseases and improve patient outcomes. Along with other vasculitis specialists at Washington University, he developed and ran a longitudinal patient cohort and biobank with the goal of collecting valuable patient data that can be used to better understand vasculitis, improve disease treatment and improve patient outcomes. His key interests are Rheumatology, vasculitis, large vessel vasculitis, clinical research, and translational research. His research interests are studying the pathogenic mechanisms, treatment modalities and patient outcomes in various forms of vasculitis with a particular focus on large vessel vasculitis including giant cell arteritis and Takayasu’s arteritis.
