Dr. Anand Kadakia joins the Department of Medicine

Anand Kadakia, MD

Dr. Anand Kadakia joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July of 2024.  He hails from Vadodara, India, where he spent his formative years.  He pursued his medical education at the Government Medical College of Baroda at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara, completing his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree in January of 2016.  Dr. Kadakia’s internship took place at Sir Sayajirao General Hospital in Vadodara, renowned as one of the largest hospitals in the state of Gujarat.  Throughout his medical school years, he actively engaged in community service initiatives, particularly focusing on aiding patients with Sickle Cell Disease.  Following his internship, he relocated to the United States.  In 2018, he assumed the role of a research assistant at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, dedicating his efforts to investigating the role of NAD in preventing and reversing Diabetic Neuropathy.  

Subsequently, he pursued his Internal Medicine Residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey from 2021 to 2024.  During his residency tenure, he concentrated on delivering medical care to underserved populations, implementing admission medication reconciliation policies, and spearheading quality improvement projects.  These projects included securing approval for ferric carboxymaltose as an inpatient formulation to decrease readmissions among patients with Anemia and Congestive Heart Failure, as well as exploring the application of Ct-DNA in colon cancer recurrence screening.  Dr. Kadakia also exhibited a keen interest in educating medical students and residents. His key interests are hospital medicine, inpatient care, Hematology, Medical Oncology and Cardiology.  In his leisure time, Dr. Kadakia finds joy in traveling, sampling diverse cuisines, hiking, and playing cricket.
