Dr. Ali Abdelhay joins the Department of Medicine

Ali Abdelhay, MD

Dr. Ali Abdelhay joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. Originally from Jordan, he earned his medical degree from the University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine in 2019, graduating among the top of his class. He later completed his internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. Prior to residency, Dr. Abdelhay gained clinical experience as a medicine intern at Shmaisani Hospital and as a resident at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan, where he cared for patients with complex oncologic and hematologic conditions. During his training, he developed a strong interest in hematology, clinical epidemiology, and patient-centered inpatient care. He delivered several educational presentations, including sessions on anemia of chronic disease, iron deficiency anemia, medical biostatistics, and complex case discussions.  

Dr. Abdelhay has contributed extensively to medical research, co-authoring over more than 20 peer-reviewed publications on topics such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and cancer-related thrombosis. His research has been published in journals including eClinicalMedicine, American Journal of hematology, Transfusion, and Thrombosis Research, and his work has been presented at national conferences such as the American Society of Hematology. His clinical interests include inpatient internal medicine, hematologic disorders, and evidence-based hospital care. He is passionate about improving patient outcomes through both bedside teaching and rigorous clinical research. Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing soccer, watching films, and playing Qanun (musical instrument).
