Dr. Adebisi Adejola joins the Department of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine as an Instructor as of July 2026.
Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, he developed an early interest in medicine and service, which guided his academic and professional journey. He received his medical degree (MBBS) from Lagos State University College of Medicine, where he demonstrated academic excellence with distinction in multiple subject areas. During medical school, he was recognized for his achievements and leadership potential and was awarded several scholarships including Chevron/Agbami and Lagos State scholarships.
Dr. Adejola subsequently completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he served as a Chief Resident. In this role, he was actively involved in resident education, scheduling, mentorship, and clinical leadership. He worked closely with residency leadership to support curriculum development, promote resident wellness, and foster a collaborative learning environment. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he remained deeply engaged in clinical care and bedside teaching.
During residency, Dr. Adejola was an active member of the St. Luke’s quality improvement and medication reconciliation committees, contributing to initiatives aimed at improving patient safety, care transitions, and inpatient outcomes. He has a strong interest in medical education and inpatient team-based care and enjoys working closely with medical students and residents in the clinical learning environment to support their professional growth.
Dr. Adejola’s clinical interests include general inpatient internal medicine, with a special interest in transplant nephrology. He is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care while fostering collaborative, multidisciplinary care models. Outside of medicine, Dr. Adejola enjoys playing soccer and board games and values time spent with family and friends.
