Dr. Aarthi Venkatramanan joins the Department of Medicine

Aarthi Venkatramanan, MD

Dr. Aarthi Venkatramanan joined the Department of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine as an Instructor in July 2025. Her diverse upbringing—spending her early years in the United States and later completing her education in India—has shaped a global perspective that enhances both her clinical approach and patient care. Dr. Venkatramanan graduated with Honors from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, in 2021. Following medical school, she worked as a medical scribe in Texas, gaining valuable experience in outpatient rheumatology before beginning her Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University/Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

During her residency, she was recognized for her outstanding performance and was honored with the “Intern of the Year” award. In addition to her clinical training, she completed a two-year medical education certificate program, furthering her commitment to academic medicine and cultivating skills in clinical teaching. She is passionate about mentoring medical trainees and aspires to integrate medical education into her long-term career. She also served as the resident representative to her hospital’s Code Blue Committee, contributing to discussions on resuscitation practices and patient safety initiatives.

Her clinical interests include General Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and Transplant Medicine, with plans to pursue subspecialty training in the future. Outside of medicine, Dr. Venkatramanan enjoys spending time with family and friends, drawing, traveling, and exploring nature. She and her husband are currently on a mission to visit all the U.S. national parks. She is thrilled to join the faculty at Washington University and looks forward to contributing to both patient care and the academic community.
